Ilya is a pleasant mate for your role-play sessions... provided the genres are right. He is a Lawful Good by nature, an expected mainstream alignment for his class, which is Cleric by D&D Class Standard. Although he can bend to the Lawful Neutral (which is what he was during the latter years of his office) and the Chaotic Good (his last stance before his ultimate defeat that leads to his death) side. You might want to think the implications, for example, of inviting such a character to your character's presence, if, they were, for example a Neutral or Lawful Evil.

Ilya works best in his natural setting, which is the Noble setting (my world-setting). The Noble setting gives you the freedom to RP with him at any age/time before his death (at 29). He's easily adaptable to your own world-setting, though, provided you're willing to give a very small compromises to keep him IC.
The compromises would include:
- He'll be about 13~15 at age
- As he's no combatant, he'll be bringing men/troops/guards instead (not in a significant amount)
- The world-setting must be at winter.
- Expect him to be using a framing device (i.e. Journal). This will result me opening your RP (don't worry, I'm good at it!). I'll be consulting you so that your lore is not compromised
That's it. He may not be the best character for Fantasy with a high magic setting though. You might want to check my other character, Arsania for that.
